Dear Voters, Friends and Supporters,
It’s hard to believe how fast time passes. First, I want to thank you for your support. It has been an honor serving Corona on the City Council, and currently as Mayor. Many of the goals I had for the City back in 2002 have been realized, while others are a few years away. I am asking for your support to re-elect me to continue the work we’ve started.
My priorities are the same as when I ran eight years ago and my commitment to serving this City is even stronger. I am committed to make Corona even safer; to continue to improve our local streets as well as projects on the 91 and 15 freeways, and alternative corridors; to improve our quality of life and to preserve our heritage and community pride to ensure our rapidly growing city retains its “small town” friendliness.
I am very proud of the current City Council and our City’s accomplishments. We have worked closely as a team which is producing positive outcomes. I have always kept the best interest of Corona and its residents my number one reason for making decisions.
Our public safety programs and services have also greatly improved and we are ranked as one of the safest large city in the Inland Empire. I’m very pleased to report that the crime rate has continued to decrease. Our Fire Department is characterized as one of the most progressive, best-equipped and professional fire departments in Southern California and Corona was the first agency in Riverside County to answer wireless 9-1-1 emergency calls. Most importantly, we’ve been able to accomplish all these enhancements and improvements without raising a single tax!!
Despite the growth we are still a safe, business friendly and livable city, which retains a strong sense of community, a “home-town” flavor, and truly live our motto “to cherish our past, to plan future”. We are invested in retaining the pieces of our heritage which are our foundation, but are also constantly innovating to keep Corona vibrant and competitive in the changing world we live in.
Both the Corona Police Officers Association and the Corona Firefighters Associations have endorsed me, as well as the Corona General Employees Association, the Corona-Norco Teachers Association and our representatives. A variety of individual endorsements are being secured, however, the most important is yours. Your support will assist me in a fact-oriented and positive campaign. Please not hesitate to contact me at 833-8136 or, better yet, come by City Hall for a visit. I look forward to meeting with you.
Sincerely,
Karen Spiegel
