Corona Mayor Karen Spiegel

Seeks Third Term to Serve on Council

 

Corona- Karen Spiegel, the Mayor of Corona, today announced that she is seeking re-election to the Corona City Council to continue her effort toward making the City a place people can proudly call home. Karen shares "As Mayor and Councilmember, I am committed to keep Corona a great place to live, work and play. My commitment is even stronger today.  I have always kept the best interest of Corona and its residents my number one reason for making decisions.”

 

Mayor Spiegel has been serving on the Corona City Council since 2002. She has proven her effectiveness not only as a Councilmember, but also during her six years as City Treasurer (1996-2002). Her enthusiastic leadership in promoting a positive relationship between the City of Corona, its residents, business, and civic organizations has proven to be successful.

 

As an active participant in the community for 25 years, Mayor Spiegel's actions speak volumes. She has immersed herself through involvement in many civic and community activities in a roll-up your sleeves way and serves in leadership capacity in many organizations. She has been honored with numerous awards and recognition for all her efforts including "Citizen of the Year", "Woman of the Year-Senator John Benoit" the "Community Bridge Builder", "PTA Honorary Service Award", and "Award of Merit" from the Chamber of Commerce.

 

Karen is a business owner who understands the daily operations and commitment necessary in today’s environment. Her background, along with a Masters Degree from Pepperdine University affords her additional experience. 

 

As a wife and mother of five children, her concern for good government and positive roll models is a top priority.   Knowing the importance of involving our youth, Mayor Spiegel initiated the Mayor's Youth Council. She is an advocate for children and positive family relationships, as evident of the many organizations she contributes her time, efforts and money.

 

Mayor Karen Spiegel is committed to make Corona even safer; to continue to improve local streets as well as projects on the 91 and 15 freeways, and alternative corridors; to improve Corona's quality of life and to preserve Corona's heritage and community pride to ensure our rapidly growing city retains its “small town” friendliness.

 

Mayor Spiegel has tremendous support from the community with her re-election campaign as well as endorsements from our elected officials including Congressman Ken Calvert, Supervisor John Tavaglione, Supervisor Jeff Stone, District Attorney Rod Pacheco as well as many fellow Councilmembers and Mayors from other cities.  Corona Police Officers Association, Corona Firefighters Association, General Employees Associations and Corona-Norco Teacher’s Association have all strongly endorsed Mayor Spiegel.

The City of has a population 150,416. The City operates under a general law charter with a City Council/City Manager form of government elected every four years. Terms are staggered and elections occur every two years.
